Bravo!

I am excited to say that I have started teaching voice lessons and LOVE IT! I got my bachelor's degree in music about 6 1/2 years ago, but there were several reasons why I was never able to really make use of my education after graduating. (I won't bore you with the details).

After my dad's mom passed away this past October, I soon learned that my aunts and uncles wanted me to have her piano! It was such an honor and I was totally pumped! So Craig and I went to work trying to rearrange our puny-sized living room to accomodate the piano, and somehow made it work. But because so much time had gone by since graduating, I wasn't feeling confident enough to advertise piano or voice lessons. (I guess I thought the confidence would somehow just seep into my bones as even more time went by!)

However, a few weeks ago a woman at church asked me if I taught voice lessons because her daughter was dying to take. My first thought was to say "no" because I was too nervous. But then I thought "I have no more excuses. I eventually want to teach voice lessons anyway, I finally have a piano, and the opportunity is falling into my lap. So why not?" So I told her I wasn't currently teaching but wanted to start, so if her daughter wanted to give me a try, I'd be happy to teach her.

I've been teaching Katie for the last 6 weeks and we both have so much fun! I think I'm actually helping the girl! It turns out I haven't forgotten as much as I thought I had. I'm glad I took a chance on myself. Moral of the story: Don't "just say no" to teaching voice lessons.

You are the perfect person to teach. My mom knew that you needed Grandma's piano! Keep up the good work.
